Print Making/Stamping

STAMP IT UP!

In this creative workshop, kids or all ages will explore the basics of printmaking by designing and drawing into foam sheets to make their own stamps and templates. Using their own drawings as inspiration, they will cut, press, and ink their foam creations to produce colorful, unique prints to take home. This is a playful introduction to printmaking that encourages imagination and hands-on learning! Size of the class is limited to 10 people.

Linocut Print Making

Join Corinne Rhodes and learn to cut a linoleum block and make multiple prints on paper!  Linocut printmaking is a fun and simple way to create your own relief prints.  Once you have carved a block, it can be used again and again.

In this class, we will cover the basics: image preparation and transfer methods, sharpening and care of tools, carving methods, paper and ink preparation, color-mixing, rolling out ink with brayers, registration techniques, printing on a portable press and by hand.

We will print with non-toxic, water-soluble inks.  Linoleum cutters, brayers and other tools will be available to borrow for the class period.

Beginners and experienced printmakers are welcome to join us.

Children are welcome with an accompanying adult – just be aware that the cutting tools are sharp!

What to Bring: Print image ideas, such as sketches, drawings, photographs, photocopies and an apron or smock for printing in.  Try to keep designs simple, to allow you time to mix ink and print.

Participation Cost: $50/per person which is payable in advance, plus a $15 Materials Fee paid directly to the instructor, which includes a 4×6 inch linoleum block, ink, tracing/transfer materials, acetate, newsprint and 6 sheets of specialty printmaking paper.
