Skip Morrow first won international acclaim as a cartoonist with his best selling I Hate Cats Book series in 1980 that sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide. He has published over a dozen books, sold millions of greeting cards throughout North America and Australia, and has been commissioned by major corporations to apply his sense of humor to numerous advertising campaigns. Some of his freelance clients include: IBM, Coors, Nation’s Business Magazine, Virgin Atlantic Airways, CBS, Hitachi, Frito-Lay, NYNEX, Simon & Schuster, Prentice-Hall, to name a few.
In the early 70’s Skip’s mediums included pencil, pen and ink, and watercolors. During the 90’s he honed his skill at working with a digitizing pen and tablet and his computer. Using the tools in Photoshop he fine tuned his drawings and began printing limited edition giclee prints from his digital files. His state of the art giclee printer with archival inks and acid-free paper gave him the opportunity to print one at a time and the flexibility to print hundreds of different images.
In the year 2000 Skip established The Art of Humor Gallery. It was created to showcase many of his notoriously bizarre originals and prints for the eclectic collector, and to serve as a comprehensive walk-through portfolio for patrons and art students. Skip continued to work as a free-lance artist and graphic designer while selling his artwork through his gallery and on his website skipmorrow.com.
Prior to 1980 Skip performed professionally as singer / guitarist / pianist since 1974. Professional bookings, which go as far back as l970, include New York City, the Caribbean, Bermuda, Boston, Cape Cod, Nantucket, the Berkshires, Florida and others. One of Skip’s more notable individual showcases was a performance for the New England Emmy Awards at Boston’s prestigious Wang Center. Despite the demands of his illustration career Skip maintained a consistent professional schedule of performances, both solo and with his wife Laraine.
